Jen and Savannah come to Jacksonville

Jen and Savannah came to Jacksonville for a short visit during Halloween. The above pictures were taken as they arrived at the Jacksonville Airport.

Pease School--1937

This is a copy of a page from the Barnes, Wisconsin Centennial book that shows a picture of the students at the Pease School in 1937. Walt and our brother, Ed are in the picture. It is the picture on the lower right. You will have to zoom in to see details. The book was compiled by David Thorson and is available from the town of Barnes, WI town clerk. There are other references to the Valeski family in the book as well. By the way, 1937 was the year that I was born.

Here is my new toy/project that I acquired this summer. It is a 1951 Studebaker P/U. It is a cool little truck that is in really decent shape and runs well. It won't take too much to restore it. I know, did I really need another project?

For the bad and the ugly, see images above to see what the rouge tree did to my Dodge truck during a wind storm this summer. Fortunately, it did no damage to the truck itself, but it obviously totaled the shell. The insurance co. took care of me though to the tune of $2400+ so I can't complain. The real bad part of the whole thing though is that Bev suggested that I move the truck and I said, "Nah, no problem, nothing will happen." Famous last words and of course it will be awhile before I don't hear the "I told you so" routine anymore.

Football and Polish Soup

Walt came over to watch football Sunday. He brought a strawberry pie from Village Inn and I made Polish sausage and potato soup for dinner. Malcolm and Pat Foster came by earlier to drop off the car seat for Jenn and Savannah's visit and saw Walt's new car. Pat noted that it looks like Walt has gained weight and I agreed. I should have snapped a photograph. Walt does look good ...his hair is starting to grow in and he seems in good spirits.

Walt's new car!

Walt traded in the Cadillac for the new Lexus LS and he's been reading the manual to learn how to work the advanced electronic gadgetry. The navigation system even has a touch-screen and is voice activated.
